As archetypal as it gets - the Type III Denim Jacket is immortal. Developed in the early 1960s, the Type III became the defining silhouette of Denim blousons, famously dubbed the ‘Trucker Jacket’ due to being favored by truckers who enjoyed its short silhouette that didn’t get in the way whilst seated for hours on end. Whether you’re drawn to the ‘knife’ seams that taper to the waist or the dual chest pockets, it’s hard not to love this classic silhouette and its rock ‘n’ roll aura.

Paying homage to the jacket’s 1960s roots, we chose to construct the indigo rendition of our Type III Denim Jacket from ‘60s-blue Japanese selvedge denim, a fabric rich with blue hues reminiscent of classic mid-century American denim. This unique fabric is paired with a beautiful gold sewing thread, another hallmark of vintage Americana staples.

We have also stayed close to the source material with the silhouette, basing it on original Type IIIs from the early 60s. This means a short, fitted body with regular shoulder and sleeve width, a point collar, and cinch-tab adjusting waistband. The dual chest pockets and hems fasten with donut buttons, whilst the placket is fitted with proprietary Dawson-branded buttons.

Available only in limited numbers, each Type iii jacket is made in the Dawson Garage with Union Special chain stitching, Reese 101 buttonholes.
